Corporate Growth and the Changing Times

The millennials are coming for corporate growth of your business! Well, as soon as we’re done taking selfies. Stereotypes aside, this could not be truer – and as anyone can see – social awareness has been on the rise.

So what do corporations, who, let’s be honest, do not always invoke a sense of trust in the young consumer, do in such an environment? How can they create corporate growth? Well, they get with the times.

“Come gather round people wherever you roam. And admit that the waters around you have grown. And accept  it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you is worth savin’.. Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone… For the times they are a changin..”-Bob Dylan: The times they are a changin’

Corporate Growth 101: Supply and Demand

More people are getting on board the social impact train. More people want to make product choices that have a positive impact on the world.

According to Deloitte, the multinational firm, “In short, social impact has evolved from a pure PR play to an important part of corporate strategy to protect and create value. It is a trend driven largely by millennial consumers and enabled by social media tools that have taken accountability and transparency to new heights.

This means by creating your products in such a way that they create a positive social impact, you are creating a supply that will have a whole lot of consumers bashing down your door and a resultant rise in corporate growth.

Don’t be that Guy

Being inauthentic is sort of like being that old guy who tries too hard to be uh…’hip.’ As Deloitte said, social responsibility has gone far beyond a simple PR stunt. This means you need to have some slither of authenticity behind your socially conscious business strategy because let me tell you, the hounds can smell that inauthenticity from miles away.  If they do get a sniff it is possible that your corporate growth may through a bit of a downfall. At the same time, remember to be a little careful with socially controversial issues.

Making social responsibility an everyday part of your company and business strategy instead of a once a year publicity stint is a way you can put this authenticity into practice.

With all due respect-you’re not Miss U S of A.  Sure you want World Peace but how and what are you specifically going to do to contribute to this? How is this going to fit into your business strategy?

Partner with a Relevant NGO

OneHope sees that partnering with a relevant Non-governmental organization that is doing work which fits into your purpose and mission is a real-word way to have positive results.

Remember – You are Working with the Lives of Real People

It sounds great to be able to positively change the world but the reality is that it’s not always easy.  It is assumable that through your mission you will affect the lives of real people. Be realistic in your goals otherwise, you can end up harming those you are professing to help.
